If, at the end of my life, historians ever ask me what the best of Austin cuisine was like, I would point them to Hoover's. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken and my wife had the Chicken Fried Steak. We both talked about the perfection in the gravy and the Cowboy Beans. Hoover's is a cold beer and some comfort food after a long day. My only regret is not saving room for dessert.

The waiter, Aaron was very nice! Very nice clean restaurant. The greens were somewhat sweet. The fried okra was not fresh. The ceasar salad had too much dressing on it. The lemonade is absolutely delicious. The shrimp and catfish was also delicious.

Good place for lunch, service is slow. I arrived at 11, was seated quickly but not greeted by server for a bit (10 min?). Took awhile to get my coffee, almost like it hadn't been made yet. I was looking around, and it seemed fairly slow for everyone. I had the catfish po boy, it was good but a little bland. There's plenty of seating, and plenty of parking. Nice atmosphere, and the bathrooms are clean. I would visit again, but make sure I'm not in a rush. They make all of their desserts from scratch, and they looked delicious.

Staff were friendly and service was quick. I ate lunch on my own and was in and out in less than 45 minutes. I had the chicken fried chicken breast, which was tasty, but the best part was the mac and cheese! Don’t miss!

Amazing chicken fried steak. Prices are great!! They add $1 per person for a fund to help their employees. My only request was that they tell you about it, rather than leaving a card on the side of the table. Regardless, service with a smile, fantastic food, Hoover himself is very pleasant and available to his patrons. Will DEFINITELY be back many times!!!
